چکیده

The ST-segment response during maximal treadmill exercise was quantitated by digital computer after excessive noise in the electrocardiographic data was reduced by computer averaging. Both the slope and the depression were quantitated. Two groups of subjects were studied. Group A consisted of 35 subjects between 33 and 57 years of age with confirmed or suspected coronary artery disease. Group N consisted of 73 clinically normal subjects between 24 and 52 years of age. The responses of the group A subjects and the 26 subjects over age 35 in group N were compared by graphically plotting their ST slope and depression values from the last minute of exercise. A linear discriminant analysis computed from these values resulted in a line of separation between the majority of subjects in each of these two groups. This separation was accomplished even though the majority of subjects in group A did not demonstrate segmental ST depression.

Maximal heart rate and treadmill performance of healthy women in relation to age.

Maximal treadmill exercise heart rate, work capacity and electrocardiographic response were studied in 95 asymptomatic, predominantly sedentary women between the ages of 19 and 69 years. Average maximal heart rate (MHR) was found inversely related to age, such that MHR = 216 -0.88 (years of age) +/- 10 beats/min (X +/- 1 SD). Treadmill exercise endurance was 7.64 min +/- 1.99. The reduction of ...

Normal electrocardiographic waveform characteristics during treadmill exercise testing.

Forty asymptomatic male patients at low risk for cardiovascular disease completed maximal treadmill testing. Electrocardiograms from leads CC5, CM5, V5, Yh and Z were recorded across multiple pretest, exercise and recovery conditions. ECG waveforms were subsequently digitized, averaged and processed to provide Q-, R-, S- and T-wave amplitudes, ST-segment means and slopes, and QS- and RT-interva...

Cardiorespiratory responses to standing arm ergometry in patients with ischemic heart disease. Comparison with the results of treadmill exercise.

To compare cardiorespiratory responses to standing arm ergometry and treadmill exercise, two graded exercise stress tests were performed in 30 patients with ischemic heart disease (IHD). Cardiac catheterization and expired gas analyses were also done. Standing arm ergometry was discontinued because of arm fatigue in 15 (50%) patients, whereas treadmill exercise was stopped due to leg fatigue in...

Independent prognostic significance of ischemic ST-segment response limited to recovery from treadmill exercise in asymptomatic subjects.

BACKGROUND Although exercise-induced ST depression is an independent predictor of future coronary events in asymptomatic populations, the predictive value of ST depression beginning after exercise cessation is unknown. METHODS AND RESULTS We analyzed the treadmill exercise tests of 825 healthy volunteers who were 22 to 89 years of age from the Baltimore Longitudinal Study of Aging. All subjec...
